A few months ago I received an email from Ellen Denny, an actress, writer, and director from Toronto, Canada. She was reaching out to get some more information on the sport of frisbee, in particular the sport of Freestyle Frisbee. She had an idea for a musical set in the 70’s/80’s featuring players competing for the chance to be a professional frisbee player.
I had the opportunity to meet Ellen when she was in Calgary performing in the Tony award winning play “A Gentleman’s Guide To Love & Murder”.
I was able to connect her with a few local frisbee players, and some of the top freestyle players in the world to help her with the background research.
The musical “What Goes Up” debuts for 3 days from August 20, 21, & 22 in Toronto at the The Globe and Mail Centre, and you can buy tickets online through Ticketwise.
I’m super excited that I’m able to check it out, as I’ll be in Toronto for the 2019 Canadian Ultimate Championships next week!
If you like frisbee and you like musicals, check it out!
