Our Story

How Hooligans FC Began

Hooligans FC was founded with a simple belief: Calgary’s youth deserved a stronger development pathway in ultimate frisbee — one that took the sport seriously without losing sight of why kids fall in love with it in the first place.

The club grew out of years of grassroots coaching, school visits, and youth programming across Calgary. From the beginning, the goal was never just to win games. It was to build players who were better athletes, better teammates, and more confident young people.

Hooligans FC was created to offer structured practice, real coaching, and a strong youth community built around Spirit of the Game.

That vision hasn’t changed. Whether you’re picking up a disc for the first time or you’ve been playing for years, Hooligans FC is the place where you grow.

Who It’s For

Is Hooligans FC Right for Your Player?

Hooligans FC is designed for Calgary youth between the ages of 12 and 18 — generally students in Grades 7–12. No prior experience is needed to get started.

The club is a great fit for players who are curious about ultimate, want to take their game to the next level, or are simply looking for an active community where showing up and working hard is genuinely valued.

Meet Frisbee Rob

Rob McLeod — known worldwide as Frisbee Rob — is the founder of Hooligans FC and one of Canada’s most recognized ambassadors for flying disc sports. Based in Calgary since 2005, Rob has dedicated his career to growing ultimate frisbee and using the sport as a vehicle for youth development.

With 13 Guinness World Records and 14 World Championships, Rob brings a rare combination of world-class competitive experience and genuine passion for coaching and education. He has visited over 650 schools and impacted more than 250,000 students through his school programs.

Hooligans FC reflects that same mission: giving young athletes in Calgary a serious, supportive space to grow through frisbee.
