On July 27, 2026, Kanen added another achievement to his growing list of accomplishments by setting a new WFDF Wheelchair Distance to Canine Catch World Record at Eric Harvie School in Calgary, Alberta.
Throwing a Hyperflite MaxQ Competition Standard disc, Kanen recorded an official distance of 13.1 metres (43 feet) to Sailor, who completed the catch to establish the new world record.
The performance marks Kanen’s second WFDF World Record and Sailor’s third.
The record comes just two months after Kanen set the Under 16 Boys Wheelchair Distance WFDF World Record, while also surpassing the existing Under 17 and Under 18 records.
I first met Kanen in November 2025, and we’ve been planning world record attempts together ever since. Watching him grow in confidence over the past several months has been incredibly rewarding.
This record was especially meaningful because Kanen loves dogs. His family doesn’t have a dog of their own, so partnering with Sailor gave him the opportunity to combine two things he enjoys – setting world records and working with an amazing canine athlete.
The attempt was witnessed by students, staff, family members, and supporters from the Tuscany community, who came together to cheer Kanen on.
