Today was a bittersweet day. A few days ago, my favourite uncle passed away and the initial shock wore off today so I was very emotional before training. He was a big supporter and believer of me and I’m so grateful for the time that we got to spend together.Read More »Bittersweet Training Day
During training, we met Mike, a resident of Calgary, who first played frisbee 40 years ago in California! It was his first time out of the house in 4 weeks so we were really glad that we were able to brighten his day 🙂 Also, we met two ultimate frisbee players who played in Guam and are hoping to compete at the 2017 World Championships of Beach in France this summer. Jill has continued to improve each training session and today was no exception. I had a few big throws and kept working on my line and finding the optimal route especially when there’s no wind.Read More »Jennie’s First Ice Training Session
Jill and I got out for some on ice training but unfortunately it was so warm out that the ice was really soft and was full of ruts. We got to work on a lot of technical elements of our throwing and our approach so it was still a good training session. Ideally we want the temperature to be around -5 to -10 degrees Celcius. When the ice is soft, your ability to skate fast is hindered and greatly reduces the ability to catch big throws.Read More »Frisbee Training on Soft Ice
While training today, I met some new fans. They were super curious about why I was throwing, skating and catching my own throw! It was fun to tell them all about my record attempts and I even gave them their own disc to take home. They were playing catch when I left so that was sweet to see. It was also an interesting training session since there was a few hundred people skating so I had to be very careful about not hitting anyone!Read More »Meeting Some New Fans
Today was a tough training day because my mind was heavy with thoughts about my friend. However, the weather was beautiful and I knew that getting out in the fresh air, throwing and catching and getting some exercise would do be good.Read More »Putting Things Into Perspective
We’re just getting out of a cold snap so today was my first day on ice training in 6 days and even today was a bit too chilly for my likes. But with one month until the event, every throw counts!Read More »Cold Weather on Ice Training
