On Saturday, June 18, fans will be witness to what many have dubbed “the greatest halftime show ever” when Frisbee Rob and Sailor “The Touchdown Dog” headline the halftime show at Commonwealth Stadium as the Edmonton Elks welcome the Saskatchewan Roughriders in their homeopener for the 2022 CFL regular season.
“The Edmonton Elks are excited to have six-time Guinness World Record holder “Frisbee Rob” McLeod performing at the halftime show with his canine teammate Sailor,” said Riley Jans, Manager, Game Presentation and Events. “After seeing the energy and excitement they brought in the fall at the Stamps halftime show, we knew they would be a perfect way for us to start the new season. Our fans have been asking for frisbee dogs so what better to bring them back than with the most exciting duo in the sport!”
Opening the halftime show will be another dynamic duo in Kara & Shawn Bellingham, who have travelled across Canada with their dogs performing with the Superdogs!
Last fall, Rob & Sailor thrilled the fans in Calgary at McMahon Stadium when they broke the record for “Longest Canine Catch at a Live Sporting Event” with a 109 yard endzone to endzone throw & catch! The video of their incredible performance went super viral, surpassing more than 250 MILLION views across Tiktok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Imgur, Youtube, and LinkedIn.
“Having the opportunity to perform at an Elks game is truly special,” said McLeod. “I was born in Edmonton and would watch games at home with my dad. He had season tickets and was a huge football fan. My dad was an all-Canadian football player in university and I grew up loving the sport, especially seeing how far I could throw the football with my buddy in high school. It feels like I’m coming home, and I’m so excited to perform for the fans!”
Fans won’t want to miss this one! Kickoff is 7:30 pm for the game. You can purchase tickets online at https://www.goelks.com/season_seats.
