The Adventures with Frisbee Rob: A New Story Begins

In May 2023, I was teaching at a MiniStix Hockey Camp when a curious kid called me “Isaac Newton’s enemy.”

It made me laugh, but it also made me wonder.

What if I could use frisbee to introduce kids to some of the greatest minds in history? Not simply as famous names and discoveries, but as real people who asked questions, experimented, made mistakes, changed direction, and kept trying.

That one comment started an idea I’ve now been working on for more than three years.

I’m excited to finally introduce The Adventures with Frisbee Rob.

Every Adventure Begins With a Question

The series follows Frisbee Rob as the Wind carries him through time to meet scientists, inventors, explorers, and other Great Minds.

Each adventure begins with a question and uses something familiar — often a frisbee — to explore ideas about the world around us.

Why doesn’t a frisbee fall immediately when you throw it?

Why can a heavy ship float while a small stone sinks?

What can a failed flying machine teach us about building the next one?

The goal isn’t to simply give kids the answers. It’s to encourage them to notice things, ask questions, experiment, make mistakes, and keep wondering.

A New Adventure Every Monday

A new illustrated adventure will be released every Monday morning at https://frisbeerob.com/adventures.

Each story will also be produced as an audio adventure on Spotify, creating another way for kids and families to experience the stories at home, in the car, at bedtime, or wherever curiosity happens.

Bringing the Adventures Into the Classroom

I’m also developing an Alberta Curricular Connection for each adventure for teachers working with students from Kindergarten through Grade 6.

Each resource will connect the story to Alberta curriculum across five core subject areas:

Mathematics · Science · Social Studies · English Language Arts & Literature · Physical Education

The idea is to take a single story and show just how many directions one good question can lead.

To launch the project, the first two weeks of teacher resources will be available free to all teachers.

The Wind Is Beginning to Stir

There have been a lot of versions of this idea since that hockey camp in 2023. Stories have changed. Characters have developed. Questions have led to more questions.

Which seems appropriate.

Now I’m finally ready to start sharing it.

Visit The Adventures with Frisbee Rob to learn more and follow along as the first adventures are released.

Keep wondering. Keep trying. Let the Wind guide you.
