Celebrating My Return to the Virginia States Frisbee Tournament

I’m back in Fredericksburg, competing in the 47th annual Virginia States Frisbee Tournament, marking my 9th appearance at one of the longest-running frisbee tournaments in the world! It’s a privilege to be the only Canadian competing in the Overall category and to represent my country at such a special event.

VA States is a 6-event Overall flying disc competition that tests every aspect of our skills. The 6 events are: Accuracy, Disc Golf, Distance, Double Disc Court (DDC), Freestyle, and Maximum Time Aloft (MTA).

The winner of the MTA event receives a Mr Bubble trophy, in honour of Pryor Hendrix, who threw a Mr Bubble Fastback during the competition.

During my 8 appearances, my best finish was 2nd overall in 2018. I’ve clinched 6 Distance titles, including setting the VA States Distance record in 2018 with a throw of 212 feet, which remains one of my proudest achievements, and I’ve been honored with 2 Mr. Bubble Trophies for being the MTA champion.

My first competition here was in 2012, and the last time I competed was in 2019, before the world changed due to Covid. Coming back feels like a family reunion, and I am so excited to see everyone again at Shelter H. I’ve missed the competition, the community, and the sheer joy of playing frisbee with so many of my friends.

I am incredibly grateful to Horizon Heating for their continued support as my sponsor for this year’s VA States. Horizon Heating has been supporting me since they first sponsored me back in 2011 at the WFDF World Overall Flying Disc Competition. Thank you, Horizon Heating, for sticking by my side through every throw and catch – your support fuels my passion and drive to excel in every event I compete in.
