CALGARY — Media and community members are invited to attend Level Up: Kanen’s World Record Attempt, a special morning of encouragement, inclusion, and possibility as Kanen attempts to set a World Flying Disc Federation wheelchair distance record with the support of Rob McLeod, also known as Frisbee Rob.
The record attempt will take place on Sunday, May 24 at the Rundle College Gym, located at 7379 17 Avenue SW in Calgary.
Kanen lives with cerebral palsy, often known as CP, a group of disorders that can affect movement, balance, and posture. For Kanen, this world record attempt is about more than distance. It is a chance to be supported by family, friends, classmates, and the broader community while helping raise awareness and funds for CP Kids & Families.
“Kanen has been working toward this moment with excitement, nerves, and determination,” said Rob McLeod, a 13-time Guinness World Records holder and longtime flying disc ambassador. “World records are powerful because they give people a chance to see what is possible. But this event is really about Kanen being surrounded by people who believe in him and want to cheer him on.”
Community members are encouraged to arrive early to make posters and help create a loud, positive, supportive environment for Kanen’s throw.
Following the record attempt, attendees will have the opportunity to take part in adapted sport activities, including roller sledge hockey try-it games supported by the AMP Legacy Foundation of Canada, with roller sledges, mini hockey nets, and tennis balls available for participants. A pizza lunch will also be available by donation, with proceeds supporting CP Kids & Families.

About Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral palsy is a group of disorders that affect a person’s ability to move and maintain balance and posture. It is the most common motor disability in childhood. CP looks different for every person, which is why events like this help highlight not only the challenges individuals may face, but also their strengths, determination, and opportunities to participate in sport and community life.
